Description Overview

We are seeking a strategic and creative Associate Director of Marketing to lead brand building and innovation initiatives. This role is pivotal in shaping the brand's identity, driving consumer engagement, and launching breakthrough innovations that fuel growth. The ideal candidate is a visionary marketer with a passion for storytelling, consumer insights, and disruptive thinking.

The candidate selected to fill this role will be based at our North American Headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan or our Charlottesville, Virginia location.

Scope of the Role

Brand Strategy & Development

  • Lead the development and execution of brand strategies that strengthen equity and drive relevance.
  • Define brand positioning, architecture, and messaging frameworks across channels.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure brand consistency and alignment.

Innovation & Product Development

  • Identify market trends, consumer needs, and whitespace opportunities to drive innovation.
  • Collaborate with R&D, insights, and commercial teams to develop and launch new products.
  • Build go-to-market strategies for innovation pipelines, including launch plans and communications.

Consumer Insights & Engagement

  • Leverage qualitative and quantitative research to inform brand and innovation strategies.
  • Champion consumer-centric thinking across the organization.
  • Develop integrated marketing campaigns that resonate with target audiences.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Manage and mentor a team of brand and innovation marketers.
  • Partner with agencies and external collaborators to bring creative ideas to life.
  • Influence senior stakeholders with compelling storytelling and data-driven recommendations.
Experience Required
  • Typically these skills are acquired with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field; MBA preferred along with 10+ years of progressive experience in brand management, innovation, or marketing strategy.
  • Proven track record of launching successful brands/products and driving growth.
  • Strong analytical skills and creative intuition.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management abilities.
  • Experience in CPG, retail, or consumer-focused industries.
  • Familiarity with design thinking, agile innovation, and digital marketing.
  • Passion for emerging trends, sustainability, and purpose-driven branding.
