University Hospitals is offering an Inquiry to Practice Program for those pursuing the education and skills needed to become an RN, with an interest in working at UH Lake West and UH Tripoint Medical Centers.
RNs provide safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status. The RN implements the nursing process by delivering effective relationship-based nursing care, demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes, demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations, develops self and contributes to the professional practice of nursing and displays leadership that influences optimal clinical and operational outcomes.
This program will follow a milestone bonus model where selected candidates will receive tiered bonuses as they achieves certain milestones. Those selected will be hired into a Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) role performing PCNA responsibilities (days/hours may vary). PCNAs complete patient care activities as delegated by the RN and perform duties including, but not limited to, ADLs, vital signs, Is and Os, 12 lead ECG, bladder scan, hygiene and venipuncture where applicable. Those selected will commit to working a minimum 24-hours per 6-week schedule period.
Both the KSU Ashtabula and LCC programs prepare students to obtain a Nursing Degree and sit for their NCLEX upon program completion to obtain licensure as an RN. Upon successful completion of the program and receipt of licensure, you will be considered for promotion to a UH Medical-Surgical RN with a 1-year commitment at UH Lake West or UH Tripoint Medical Centers.
QualificationsMust be a current UH employee or a direct referral from Kent State University- Ashtabula, or Lakeland Community College.
Must obtain admission to and maintain successful enrollment in an RN program at KSU Ashtabula or LCC
Must work a minimum of 24 hours per 6-week schedule period to be eligible for employment/bonuses.
Must meet the bonus eligibility requirements for each tier, prior to payout processing.
Prior direct patient care experience preferred but not required.
BLS certification must be obtained during UH Orientation
